4 essential oils for bright winter skin

The skin is the largest organ of your body. The the outermost layer of the skin is called the epidermis, it creates a waterproof barrier and protects our delicate inner layers from harm.

You can take care of your skin through choosing a balanced diet (plenty fruit and vegetables) and regular exercise are excellent ways to take care of your skin. Choosing  natural cosmetics and skin care products is a step in the right direction.  And staying hydrated.

Winter can be particularly harsh on the skin. Try adding these 4 essential oils to your skin care routine to refresh and protect your skin this winter season:

Peppermint oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, iron, magnesium, calcium, Vitamins A and C, minerals, potassium, manganese and copper. It contains menthol, an organic compound with in-house anesthetic properties that helps soothe discomfort. Peppermint oil also has antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and carminative properties.

Create a peppermint facial scrub to support healthy and radiant skin. The menthol  has a cooling effect and at the same time, works to brighten up dull skin.

  • 4 drops peppermint oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons table sugar

Frankincense has a gorgeous woody aroma, it has powerful anti-aging and skin rejuvenating effects. It is a powerful astringent, meaning it helps protect skin cells. It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes, the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, and it even helps lift and tighten skin to naturally slow signs of aging.

You can mix 2 drops with a carrier oil such as almond oil. Massage it gently into the face and neck until it is absorbed to rejuvenate and moisturizer the skin.

The nutrients of rosemary can help protect skin cells from damage often caused by the sun and free radicals. Since rosemary has natural antiseptic properties, it’s a superior disinfectant for our skin and hair. Tones skin and removes dryness.

Applied topically it also reduces under-eye puffiness and improves circulation to give you glowing skin. Additionally, it fights against sun damage and free radical damage and tightens your skin to combat signs of aging.

Add 2-3 drops to some coconut oil and gently massage the face.

Enjoy happy winter skin.

Feel at ease.
